Air Niugini selects Hamilton Sundstrand for APS500 and APS1000 Auxiliary Power Unit repairContact:Dan Coulom Chalet D14-16 |

Air Niugini has selected Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems as the repair source for the APS500 and APS1000 Auxiliary Power Units (APU) installed in its fleet of deHavilland dash8 series and Q400 aircraft. The comprehensive five year contract, with an option for another five years, includes repair of APUs and line replacement units (LRUs) removed on-wing. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). Currently, more than 600 APS500 APUs are in-service on the dash8-100/-200/-300 aircraft family, and more than 350 APS1000 APUs are on board the Q400 aircraft around the world. "The APUs installed in the deHavilland aircraft family have a proven reputation for low technical risk and proven reliability," said Danny Di Perna, Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems vice president and general manager. "This, combined with exceptional customer support, was key to Air Niugini's decision to select the Hamilton Sundstrand APUs. Air Niugini is an international and domestic airline group that operates air passenger and cargo transport services within the Asian and Pacific regions and 23 domestic ports. Air Niugini services cover Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Narita (Japan), Brisbane, Sydney, Cairns (Australia), Honiara (Solomon Islands), Hong Kong and Nandi (Fiji).
